Personal Experience

I've used this product many times and have some insight to share.  While fresh eggs undeniably have a superior taste, the trade-offs are noteworthy:

  • Taste:  They do taste good! I've used these to make scrambled eggs or an omelet. Mix with a little water and season to taste, then cook in a camp skillet—just about the fastest hot breakfast you can get camping.
  • Versatility:  The manufacturer states that these crystallized eggs can also be used as an ingredient in other recipes. While I haven't tried that personally, I have confidence it would work well.   • Ease:  Just mix with water and cook!  Some would argue that it's easier than cracking an egg...

Naturally, these eggs, when mixed with water, ARE scrambled, so an "over-easy" or "poached" egg isn't an option. Kind of strange that they named the product "ova-easy" when they can't make eggs that are "over-easy"... but you'll get over it.

And I don't want to over-sell:  fresh eggs are better tasting and yes I can tell the difference.
