Linking Policy

Linking Policy

Last Updated: 21 November 2023

Hello, Outdoor Adventure Enthusiasts!

I'm Paul McDonald, and here at Prepper on the Plains, I want to be upfront and clear about how I handle links to products in my articles and reviews. Transparency is key, and I want you to understand my perspective on affiliations and external partnerships.

If I'm reviewing a product, I'll most likely link to the place where I purchased that product.  I may also provide an alternate link or two.  REI and Amazon are favorites, but Cabela's/Bass Pro Shops. Scheels, and other vendors will appear from time to time.

I also will reference and review selected online videos (primarily from YouTube).  When I do, I like to give credit to that content creator and will include their YouTube link.  If I'm reviewing a YouTube video, it's because I found it helpful and I suggest you watch the whole thing.

No Affiliate Links, No Hidden Agendas

Unlike many content creators who use affiliate marketing to earn commissions, I've made a conscious decision to take a different route. This means you won't find any affiliate links on my website, and I don't earn any form of compensation based on your clicks or purchases through the links provided.  My decision to steer clear of affiliate marketing is straightforward—I'm passionate about outdoor experiences, not about generating additional income. I have a primary profession, and I'm not dependent on affiliate commissions for financial support. By avoiding affiliate links, I aim to maintain objectivity and focus solely on delivering authentic and unbiased content.

My commitment is to you, the readers. When I recommend a product or provide a link, it's based on genuine experiences and personal preferences. My reviews and articles are shaped by my insights, user feedback, and a dedication to promoting products that align with the ethos of outdoor exploration.  While my approach may differ from those who leverage affiliate marketing, my goal remains the same—to support and enrich your outdoor adventures. My content is crafted with the intention of providing valuable insights, tips, and recommendations to enhance your experiences in nature.

P.S.  Yeah, it's just me... but sometimes I write with the plural "we" and sometimes I write with the singular "I" -- bad habits I know.  Let's just say that I had a frog in my pocket so there's two of us!
